The Rocket Lodge
Rocket Lodge at A Little Bit of Rough is a totally unique and fabulous roomy retreat, sleeping six in three bedrooms, set in 20 acres of private woodland in rural Rutland
As both George Clarke and Sandi Toksvig discovered when they stayed here recently, this is a very cool and bespoke Lodge, able to sleep six in three bedrooms. Challenging to build and fabulous to stay in, The Rocket Lodge is set in 20 acres of private woodland ‘Spindleberry Woods’ in rural Rutland, just down the road from local market town Uppingham.
Owners Nick and Sarah are passionate about their guests enjoying relaxing stays in a peaceful setting, so do not expect any groups or wild parties to stay here. They welcome families, adults and a certain type of hen party and many are returning guests, so that says it all to us..
The Rocket Lodge is a bespoke creation and is so different to any of other retreats in the Boutique Luxury Retreats directory; it consists of three reclaimed grain silos and four shepherds huts all connected by oak framed glazed links, making a large and roomy retreat with defined spaces to connect or retreat to.
Inside the Rocket Lodge
The Rocket Lodge consists of a sitting room in the first silo and a fully fitted kitchen in silo two, Three of the shepherd’s huts adjoining the silo structure are bedrooms, two double and one twin. Each bedroom has romantic French doors opening up to a private gravelled area through to the surrounding woodland views. The fourth shepherds hut forms the bathroom with shower. Finally, there is an amazing The third and final silo is dedicated to a unique bathing room with an amazing huge copper bathtub with beautifully crafted interiors. The Rocket Lodge has been beautifully crafted inside and out from the reclaimed oak church doors and reclaimed wood panelling, carved country house fireplace and bespoke artwork and furniture. In a separate part of Spindleberry Woods, there are also four gorgeous canvas lodges – Ash, Birch, Oak and Willow, each sleeping up to 6 guests, with 4 adults max per lodge.
