A Luxurious Shepherds Retreat
Here’s the scope: It’s more like a boutique holiday cottage on wheels in 80 acres of organic arable farmland than shepherds retreats you might be accustomed to. We’ve created 50 sq metres of luxury living space by combining two large shepherds huts in an L shape, to create a single luxury and unique escape, ideal for a couple, a girly getaway (no more than 4) or for a family wanting relaxed & civilised luxury stays in the North Cotswolds, at the foot of Bredon Hill near Cheltenham.
Rooms and Facilities
Well Furlong Retreat is well equipped, with a large open plan kitchen with breakfast bar and dining table. There’s a sitting room area with two sofas, a Hobbit Wood Burner, SMART TV and great wifi. Key sockets have USB ports. And of course, there is the hot tub to indulge in as well. When sunsets and the night chill draws in, pull down the blinds and enjoy a night cap by the ‘hobbit’ wood burner.
The bathroom has a spoiling luxury double shower and the sleeping arrangements are cleverly designed, with a sumptuous super kingsize or twin bedroom (link bed) adjoining the sitting room and a hidden double ‘bunk’ room – with two double beds in, situated the other side of the bathroom, for either two adults to sleep or up to four children. All sheets are 300 thread 100% cotton.
Outside Area
Outside there is a large south facing decking area with a sunken jacuzzi, sun loungers and garden table & chairs with a 5M x 2.5M parasol for those sunny moments. Two sets of wide steps lead you down to a fire pit / barbeque and a more formal garden area.
Surrounding Well Furlong Retreat is 80 acres of organic farmland for guests to roam and to enjoy the uninterrupted views of stunning countryside.
If you’re coming as a family, we would encourage you to bring outside games equipment – to make the most of the outside space you have, although we do provide a badminton set, swing ball set and SMITE.
Surrounding Area
Nearby footpaths lead you up onto Bredon Hill and the surrounding beautiful Cotswold Countryside. The local pub is located within easy walking distance – an easy 2 mile walk away. You’re also only 15 minutes drive away from the many restaurants and cafes in Broadway. The Retreat is also perfect as a relaxing base for the Cheltenham Literary and Cheltenham Race Festival, a 40 minute drive away.
Dog Friendly
As per the house rules, we welcome one well behaved dog in the kitchen and sitting room areas of the Retreat. A dog gate Is provided to help define the doggy and non doggy parts of the Retreat. Dependent on the make up of the party, we may on occasions allow a 2nd dog but this needs to be approved in writing before you book the property.
This is the perfect place to come and relax and be active.

We try to live our lives and deliver to our guests spoiling and luxury holidays in sustainable and eco friendly retreats with a particular focus for improving and rewilding the small organic 80 acres of private land that we are lucky enough to live in.
We have Green Tourism accreditation and have committed to improving our green initiatives wherever possible at Well Furlong Retreats.

- Wild flower meadows planting of approximately 10 acres of farm land around the retreats
- 2024 initiatives focus around the rewilding possibilities of Well Furlong’s organically farmed land

The nearest shop is in the village of Pershore, 2.3 miles or each Saturday there is a pop-up shop and coffee land rover in the Little Comberton Village hall, approximately 100m away.
The nearest bus stop is in the village hall, 100m away.
The nearest train stations are Pershore – 3.8 miles, 10 mins drive. With hourly trains to London (2 hours), Oxford (1 hour) or Worcestershire Parkway – 6.9 miles, 15 mins drive, with hourly trains to Birmingham (30 mins).
There is secure cycle storage within Well Furlong if required, please inform us if this is required prior to arrival.There are several taxi firms in Pershore / Evesham offering accessible transport locally.
We can accept shopping deliveries from major supermarkets etc by arrangement.
Arrival & Car Parking
Well Furlong is just off the bend of Pershore Road, as you drive past the village Hall we are the third drive on the left through two stone pillars and open wooden gates up a gravel drive.
Well Furlong cottage has a level car park, with a tiled surface directly outside the cottage front door. From the car park into the front door there is a 15cm step into the cottage through a 92cm wide front door.
Well Furlong Cottage
The front hallway is tiled. There is a downstairs guest loo with 80cm wide door and level access off the entrance hall. From the entrance hall there is a 12cm step into the kitchen through an 80cm wide door. The kitchen is also tiled and leads into the ground floor carpeted bedroom, which is level with an 81cm wide door. The top of the mattress is 69cm from the floor. All bedding is 300 thread Egyptian cotton. The kitchen sink tap is lever operated.
The rear garden door is 74cm wide with a 12cm step down 12cm into the grassed garden. From the garden there is a 16cm step up to a gravelled seating and BBQ area. By special arrangement there is direct access to the swimming pool from the BBQ area with an 8cm step through 116cm wide doors. Within the swimming pool area there are two 16cm steps. The swimming pool is tiled. There is flat access into the changing room, shower and loo and there is no lip to the shower.
The sitting room, games room and additional two bedrooms are up a flight of carpeted stairs.
Well Furlong Shepherds Retreat:
Parking is up a farm track with a loose chipping parking area. There is a 75m gravel pathway from the parking area to the Shepherds Retreat. There are 4 x 21cm steps from the gravel path up to the raised decking, that gives access to the front door.
The front double doors can be opened to give a 187cm wide opening, there is an 8cm lip over the threshold of the door.
There is oak flooring throughout the Retreat.
The width of the Single stable style decking door leading directly from the bed area is 88cm.
The living area of the cabin is open plan.
The top of the mattress is 69 cm from the floor.
The kitchen sink tap is a traditional spoked turn handle.
The width of the bathroom door is 69cm
The bathroom floor is also oak boards.
The “lip” into the shower is 2cm.

The depth of the step from the decking up to the sunken hot tub is 25 cm.
The hot tub is 63cm deep from the top of the hot tub to the hot tub seat.
All external door handles are lever operated, the internal bathroom door has a traditional thumb lever handle.
All bedding is 300 thread Egyptian cotton.
Outside Space
The Shepherds Retreat is set in an undulating, uncut meadow.
The area immediately around the cabin is kept close mowed and there is a firepit with wooden logs as stools.
