Our selection is ideal for enjoying your forest holiday most luxuriously, and it isn’t just the private hot tubs recommended for these properties. Not all of the properties have hot tubs; some offer outdoor wood-fired baths instead, which can be a great stress-busting relaxing alternative.
Enjoy incredible views over woodland and snuggle up in the evenings around a fire pit or the tranquillity of a log burner, and have a restful night’s sleep in your perfect getaway.
The region has so much to offer. The region starts to the west, where it meets with the rolling hills of the Cotswolds and then dips down towards the south west to the mouth of the river Severn and then climbs to the west, meeting the Welsh Marches before forming the southern side of the Wye Valley as it stretches towards it’s northern tip.
Pay a trip to the numerous small historic market towns dotted around the surrounding area, like Monmouth, Chepstow and Lydney. Tucked away in the forest are a wealth of picturesque villages and historic landmarks, including St Briarvels Castle, the Devil’s Pulpit, the Eagle’s Nest and Puzzlewood. For the more adventurous, you’re spoilt for outdoor activities, including Go Ape at Mallard’s Pike, kayaking down the river Wye Valley at Symonds Yat, and walking along the Offa’s Dyke path, not to mention numerous cycling trails at the Forest of Dean Cycle Centre. For more leisurely pursuits, visit the numerous craft centres, take steam train rides at Dean Forest Railway Centre, visit the Forest of Dean sculpture trail, or explore Clearwell Caves or Dean Heritage Centre to learn about the forest’s industrial past.
