The Black Hut

We love the Black Hut with its modern, classic and unfussy design. This unique retreat is situated on a working farm in the beautiful and quiet Northumberland countryside. This is a retreat perfect for both romantic and family stays, as the hut has a mezzanine with 2 single beds (ideal for children over 7).

It really is the ideal retreat to unwind and relax – we’d love to do some star gazing in the fabulous outside copper bath! The Black Hut is an ideal location to see the Aurora from the United Kingdom with a clear visible horizon towards the North.  The far-reaching uninterrupted views are unrivalled with a rare absolute silence. 

Inside the Retreat

The owners have thought of plenty of luxury extras to make the Black Hut a Boutique Luxury Retreat with plenty of thick fluffy towels, bathrobes, luxury bedding and Bramley products. There are numerous creature comforts. The bedroom has a kingsize bed with options for two single roll out beds. The kitchen is fully equipped and a sweet bathroom includes a walk in shower. From the living area, a steep ladder takes you to a pretty mezzanine level. With its window seat and beanbag chair, this is the perfect place to watch the sunset or stargaze.

Outside the Retreat

When not soaking in the outdoor bath then sit back in the rocking chairs on your outdoor porch with the warmth from a log burning stove to make even chilly evenings a delight. The hut sits next to private woodland and has views out towards Hadrians Wall and the North Pennines AONB.

Location

The Black Hut is just off the A68 between Colwell and Ridsdale. The retreat is in easy reach of Northumberlands’s visitor attractions and is within an hour’s drive of the stunning Northumberland coastline with its’ miles of beautiful and award winning beaches. It’s also four miles from the stunning countryside of the Northumberland National Park.

Larger groups & Multigenerational families

If you’d like to invite some friends to holiday with you, there’s also two glamping pods, Willow Pod, Cedar Pod and Sycamore Cottage to stay in on the Farm, so it’s also the perfect holiday to spend time with friends and family and make the most of the BBQ hut onsite.

Activities

Nearby outdoor activities include fly fishing, open water swimming, cycling, coasteering, rafting, walking and sailing – it’s an extensive list of outdoor adventures. For those more interested in visiting the local villages and market towns with their artisan crafters, independent shops, restaurants and coffee shops, why not visit local towns including Corbridge, Hexham, Bellingham and Wark.
