Three uniquely styled barn retreats
There’s space for everyone at these holiday cottages – let me give you the rundown.
The first of the three cottages is the Cow Shed Barn, the highlight being a romantic mezzanine bedroom.
This is truly a retreat for those romantics among you – a covered outdoor glass area with a wood burning stove ensure cosy winter nights. If you want to stay warm whilst enjoying the countryside, consider the double-ended bath – a stargazer’s dream.
The Old Parlour barn is up next, boasting two double rooms sleeping four.
You’ll find a very well equipped kitchen area here, including a log burner to relax beside. This barn also features an outdoor courtyard which seats 8, so gather your friends and BBQ the night away.
Finally, we have Nest Balconette, the smallest of the three.
We prefer the term “cosy”, since size is certainly not everything. Inside you’ll find a mezzanine double bedroom ready to sleep two, and a fully equipped kitchenette for those romantic nights cooking together. That’s not everything however, as Nest Balconette has its own private lantern-lit courtyard – if you were jealous of your neighbour’s BBQ, fear not since you’ll find one in your courtyard too.
What about exploring? This accommodation sits between two award-winning gastro pubs and is the perfect place to start your adventure in Cheshire. Spend the Christmas and New Year visiting the stunning views of the National Trust properties and hiking in the Bickerton Hills.
Beautifully designed amongst a private woodland setting and bordering the Trossachs National Park, these boutique treehouses are just a short drive away from both Glasgow and Edinburgh.
We hope you like a super king size bed (who doesn’t let’s be honest) since that’s where you’ll be sleeping during your stay – for families, a double sofa bed is ready to sleep up to two children. Speaking of kids, they’ll love Lanrick’s best feature: the rope bridge. Connecting two of the treehouses, it’s perfect for larger groups to stay close and relax together.
And relax you shall, each treehouse has a log burning stove, a treetop terrace and an outdoor bath. Still not relaxing enough? How about the addition of a woodland sauna and onsite Swedish massages? You’ll never be more relaxed.
Since this is a family business, Louise and Simon Dickson hold their retreats to the high standard you’ve come to expect – they work hard to ensure while sharing this unique off-grid location, they also cause minimal impact on the stunning surroundings.
Guests are encouraged to enjoy the woodland and scenic river walks nearby, where you’ll find time for picnics and fishing. For those looking for some thrills, Trossachs National Park is found just four miles away, offering opportunities for climbing, mountain biking, canoeing, wild swimming and boat trips on Loch Lomond.
You’re bound to run into the wildlife while staying in this remote retreat, and thus the treehouses are unable to accommodate dogs – luckily for you, these next treehouses are dog friendly, and just as luxurious.
The more recent collection when it comes to the Dickson’s treehouses, Leckie treehouses are four individually designed beautifully roomy treehouses. With space for your four legged friends, this makes a perfect stay for couples and friends alike.
