A Luxurious Shepherds Retreat with Sunken Hot Tub
Luxury accommodation in the Cotswolds personified
Looking for perfect luxury cottages or retreats in the Cotswolds? Perhaps you want to indulge your family or simply share a romantic getaway? Maybe you want a beautiful setting to mark a special occasion with loved ones and want to sample the Cotswolds rural life that is both warm and welcoming and dog friendly. If this is what you’re looking for, then look no further, Well Furlong ticks all of these boxes!
A Luxurious Shepherds Retreat with Sunken Hot Tub
A Luxurious Shepherds Retreat
Well Furlong Shepherds Retreat is more like a boutique holiday cottage on wheels in 80 acres of organic arable farmland than shepherds retreats you might be accustomed to. We’ve created 50 sq metres of luxury living space by combining two large shepherds huts in an L shape, to create a single luxury and unique escape, ideal for a couple, a girly getaway (no more than 4) or for a family wanting relaxed & civilised luxury stays in the North Cotswolds, at the foot of Bredon Hill near Cheltenham.
This is also the perfect romantic annex or grandparents bolt hole should you be booking both Well Furlong Cottage and the Retreat together.
Rooms and Facilities
Well Furlong Retreat is well equipped, with a large open plan kitchen with breakfast bar and dining table. There’s a sitting room area with two sofas, a Hobbit Wood Burner, SMART TV and great wifi. Key sockets have USB ports. And of course, there is the hot tub to indulge in as well. When sunsets and the night chill draws in, pull down the blinds and enjoy a night cap by the ‘hobbit’ wood burner.
The bathroom has a spoiling luxury double shower and the sleeping arrangements are cleverly designed, with a sumptuous super kingsize or twin bedroom (link bed) adjoining the sitting room and a hidden double ‘bunk’ room – with two double beds in, situated the other side of the bathroom, for either two adults to sleep or up to four children. All sheets are 300 thread 100% cotton.
Well Furlong is an exceptional Cotswold Cottage with Pool, Spa, Jacuzzi
Family Friendly Spa Facilities
Looking for family friendly Cotswold luxury cottages with beautiful grounds and swimming pools? Well Furlong cottage is your perfect choice, with generous family rooms sleeping 6-8, is attached to a heated indoor pool and hot tub and nestles in 80 acres of private countryside.
This is a truly unique spa retreat. Think of staying in a top end luxury family hotel in the Cotswolds, but this one is just for you and your family. Unlike staying in luxury family hotels, you can use the Spa when you like, first thing if the kids are up and after supper using the dimmed pool lights for a romantic dip.
Well Furlong Cottage also has a tennis astro court with football and netball goals, a grass football and rugby pitch and a games room with pool table, table tennis, table football and air hockey.
Book The Cottage & The Retreat together
We have found that many of our guests come to stay often as a multigenerational family or with a few families together.
Why not book both the retreat and the cottage at the same time, so that perhaps the grandparents or a couple can have their own space but still join in with the many activities on site.
If you book both cottage and retreat at the same time, then all of you have access to the games room, indoor pool and tennis court, rather than just the cottage guests when they are booked independently of each other.
Luxury cottage and retreat situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty
Well Furlong is situated at the end of a long, quiet, private drive, surrounded by beautiful rolling Cotswold countryside. The local pub is within walking distance (2 miles) in the charming next door Cotswold village of Elmley Castle. The villages may have Roman origins and with many of the farmhouses and properties dating back to the 16th and 17th century, it is one of the most charming villages in south Worcestershire.
Explore The Cotswolds
Well Furlong Cottage is a relaxing base for the Cheltenham Literary and Cheltenham Race Festival. The Cotswolds has much to offer, with fantastic walking with Bredon Hill on our doorstep and the rolling hills of the Malverns nearby. The Cotswolds offer many of the most beautiful towns and villages that including Moreton in Marsh, Chipping Norton and Chipping Campden – all less than an hour’s drive away.
For the those that love the heritage of the Cotswolds, there are also many National Trust Houses to visit, including Croome Park and Hanbury Hall. Some of the many local Cotswold landmarks to visit include Broadway, Stow on the Wold, Cotswold Water Park, Bourton on the Water and Burford. Blenheim Palace is approximately a 40 minute drive away.

We would highly recommend!David Woods2023-09-01Ideal retreat for seven nights away with our adult children and grandchildren. The well proportioned and equipped property adjoins but is private from the owners house. It’s a home away from home, and has been thoughtfully designed throughout. The owners are a lovely friendly family and can’t do enough to ensure you enjoy your stay but equally do not intrude. The tennis court, games room and swimming pool are shared with the owners family, this was never a problem, and we didn’t actually see them using the pool whilst we were there. Great area for walking and cycling. Highly Recommended …..rachel lovell2023-03-07Absolutely loved our stay at Well Furlong Shepherds Retreat. Beautiful accommodation and a wonderful view. Highly recommended and we'd love to return.Tony Bulmer2022-07-21July 2022 stay at Well Furlong Cottage Our staycation at Well Furlong Cottage was to give our daughter and her friend a relaxing break having just completed their GCSE’s, and as an early birthday treat for my wife and daughter. We all had a great time. The accommodation was fantastic, clean, modern, spacious and very comfortable. Pollyanne and Giles were very friendly and always there if you needed advice or just a chat. The facilities were exceptional. We loved the pool and jacuzzi, especially having private access to this. The girls also loved being able to use the tennis court. It was lovely to have your horse come over every morning for a pat and stroke and to be able to walk around your fields with the weather being so nice. We would have loved to have had more time to be able to visit some more of the local villages and try some of the (shorter) walks, but with the pool and tennis court it was hard pull ourselves away from the cottage. Our meal at The Queen Elizabeth Inn was also very nice, your recommendation for this was appreciated. Thank you and we will definitely look at coming back in the future.Anne Tranter2022-03-31We stayed 5 nights at the Well Furlong Shepherds Hut. This exceeded our expectations with a very high standard throughout from the cutlery to the linen and a fantastic bathroom. We enjoyed the hot tub and the wood burning stove on a particularly bad weather day. We had a very relaxing time watching the pheasants and the owls. Recommend: The Queen Elizabeth where we had lunch Take Wellies!Anna Bussell2022-02-18Such a wonderful 3 night stay at the Well Furlong Shepherds Retreat. The Shepherds hut was spacious and the details made it feel very luxurious. The jacuzzi was perfect for enjoying the cold winter evenings. We loved the convenience of having a dishwasher and coffee machine and the surrounding areas were so peaceful! Would 100% recommend this to anyone looking for a chance to get away!Tobi Savage2022-01-25We were delighted to discover that Well Furlong cottage is just as stunning as it looks on-line. It is very thoughtfully equipped, tastefully decorated, and has a luxurious but cosy feel thanks to the quality finishing touches. I stayed Monday to Friday with my two sons, two daughters-in-law and two baby grandchildren. We were greeted by Pollyanne, who gave us a little tour of the cottage and spa area, then left us to settle in and enjoy the delicious homemade scones, jam, cream and chilled wine - just the thing to start our break on an indulgent note! Pollyanne and Giles were fantastic hosts, extremely helpful and very friendly. We all enjoyed the fabulous pool and jacuzzi in its spacious heated room. This was a great family friendly space for the babies to take their first dips, as well as lots of fun for the adults come the evenings. After fun in the pool it was wonderful spending time relaxing with a glass of wine in the comfortable sitting room with its comfy sofa and snug throws. Early in our stay we made a short visit to a relative in Worcester, stocked up in Waitrose there and didn't need to leave Well Furlong cottage again until we had to say our fond farewells and pack up the cars. We are all thoroughly looking forward to our next visit and hope to extend our party by booking the shepherd's hut for a few more of our family members! Thank you so much for helping us make some great memories in your beautiful cottage. "The 7 Savages"Jasmine Ellis2022-01-24My partner and I spent 3 nights at Well Furlong Shepherds retreat and it exceeded expectations. The retreat itself was very clean, secluded and relaxing. Pollyanne and her family were very friendly and happy to help but also didnt disturb us and left us to it. We particularly enjoyed the hot tub and the wood burning stove. Pollyanne and Giles also supplied the place well so we were able to easily cook for ourselves. We also enjoyed a fabulous night at the local pub the Queen Elizabeth and a delicious breakfast at a nearby farm shop both recommended to us by Pollyanne. The only negative thing i can think to say is that it's a rural area and as town folk we struggled to work out which footpaths to take to get to where we wanted to go but it was all part of the adventure! Would definately recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing few days away from the hussle and bussle. Thank you Pollyanne and Giles!Google rating score: 5.0 of 5, based on 14 reviews
