Country House and Special Events Venue – The Laurels is a newly launched boutique residential events venue, with exclusive use of the entire Laurels Estate. Up to 24 guests are able to stay here and enjoy the wonderful spa, including an indoor pool, sauna, treatment rooms and gym, with entertaining space for up to 60 and use of nearby outward bound facilities

This beautiful Victorian estate is nestled in 50 acres of Somerset countryside and is easily accessible. The estate sleeps up to 24 guests across 4 retreats, including the Main House, Clock Tower, Duck House and Coach House. For daytime activities and meeting space, the venue can accommodate up to 60 indoors and up to 250 outdoors, making this the perfect retreat venue for both private and corporate events, weddings and weekends away with larger groups of friends and family.

The Laurels has been in the Mead Family for many years and they have now refurbished The Laurels with a traditional & modern Scandinavian theme and opened their doors for guests to be able to enjoy this most fabulous retreat with outstanding facilities.

The Mead Family also own the activity centre nearby and the local farm shop and butchery, which means that as a group staying at The Laurels, you are able to customise your stay with additional bespoke outdoor activities.

The Main House at The Laurels, Somerset, sleeps up to 10

It’s a beautiful feel of calm and understated luxury at the Laurels. The main house is stunning with five unique ensuite bedrooms.

There are many beautiful reception rooms, which you as a party can adapt for your own needs. It has been designed so that all guests staying at the Laurels Estate can spend their time in the main house, should they wish:

• The Laurels newly refurbished kitchen is fully equipped with a range oven and an American fridge, a gorgeous open-plan space ready for hosting and entertaining.
• The next door breakfast room, with the original servant bells above the doorway, has seating for 10, ideal for family meals and gatherings.
• There is a formal dining room, perfect for a special family celebration with seating for 20.
• Hide away in the Old Smoking Room, historically known as the gentleman’s retreat. This is a cosy room for reading a book or make use of the informal entertainment with a built in Bluetooth sound system and a 60 inch Samsung Smart TV.

The Clock Tower, sleeps up to 6

Next door to the main house, the Clock Tower is an independent and fully-equipped retreat with a kitchen, open plan sitting room and dining room and three bedrooms, a lovely modern retreat for up to six guests. There is a master en-suite bedroom, with a family bathroom.

The Duck House, sleeps a romantic 2

We love the romantic retreat, The Duck House, which overlooks the lake. It’s a cosy and romantic space with a double bed, kitchenette and bathroom. Beautiful French doors open up to a wooden veranda and into the orchard.

The Coach House, sleeps up to 6

In the courtyard, The Coach House has been designed with a retro chic feel, with a master ensuite bedroom, a small double bedroom and a sofa bed in the sitting room, with family bathroom and contemporary kitchen.

Private Spa and Indoor Pool

The wonderful spa facilities at The Laurels include a brand new indoor pool, sauna, treatment rooms and gym.

The indoor heated pool has a depth of 5 feet, with showers, changing facilities and a wooden sauna, all designed for relaxation and rejuvenation. Bi-fold doors from the pool open out onto a private walled garden with patio and relaxing area.

Energising natural light streams into the gym through large windows. The gym is fully equipped with a treadmill, free weights, and strength training machines, catering for both cardio and strength workouts.

Off the pool area, relax and unwind in the two peaceful treatment rooms available for massages and other beauty treatments provided by the Laurels team therapists during your stay here.

Conference Centre and Meeting Space

The Conservatory and Cheese Room provide flexible spaces for a huge range events and gatherings. Added in the late 1800s, the wooden conservatory’s french doors open out onto the gardens and patio areas, with soft seating and an outdoor and light feel. The Cheese Room, once used for storing and preserving food, is able to entertain 60 people, perfect for conferences, dining, celebratory events and wellness activities, such as yoga, pilates and meditation.

The gardens at the Laurels are mature and traditional, with the main lawn overlooking the lake, surrounded by a mature orchard and beyond to Somerset fields and local farmland.

Private Weddings at The Laurels Somerset

The Laurels Estate with its’ beautiful gardens in Somerset, provide the perfect country setting for a private wedding or celebration.

The main lawn and rose gardens can host an event for over 250 guests, or there are fabulous reception rooms to host an indoor wedding celebration for 60 guests.

There is a wedding package which offers exclusive use of the entire estate, accommodation for up to 26 guests for the night before and the evening of your wedding. From start to finish, The Laurels is the perfect place to make your wedding unforgettable.
