Rowden Abbey
Rowden Abbey is for filling with friends and family, for fabulous weekends and holidays
Up to 20 guests / 10 bedrooms / 6 bathrooms / Games room / Many reception rooms / 30 acres of private grounds
What a unique find! When we discovered that this wonderfully large country house is now available to rent as a one-holiday retreat, we couldn’t help but think of Lucy Honeychurch, Windy Corner, and delightful house parties.
Seeped with history, dating back to the 12th century, and featuring eccentric tales of monks, Knights, Circus Owners, and Olympic athletes, the Abbey is full of charm and history, with many of it’s period features intact. It is set in 30 acres of private and secluded grounds in the stunning Herefordshire countryside.
Inside the Abbey
Ideal for large families or friends looking for a large country house to stay in, every room is individually furnished to match the Arts and Crafts style of the Abbey. This is a roomy house with 10 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms, and many of the bedrooms also have private sitting rooms attached to them.
The many reception rooms include an oak-panelled entrance hall with a wood burner, a panelled dining room, a library, an amazingly large kitchen with a double Aga, a TV room, and a games room. There’s also a well equipped games room complete with pool table and air hockey table.
Outside the Abbey
The gardens boast a croquet lawn, a medieval lake and access to the River Frome, with Victoria trout beds. There is also a courtyard garden and sun terrace, a summer house by the lake and 9 acres of private woodland to roam.
Rowden Abbey is in ‘walking’ country and sits between the Malvern Hills and the Brecon Beacons. It is also easily accessible to the many well-known craft and foodie market towns of Herefordshire.
A maximum of 3 well-behaved dogs are welcome to stay at Rowden Abbey; there are sheep and livestock on site.
This is truly a magical retreat to spend time with friends and family, and dare I say it, it is the perfect party house!
