We all had a great time. The accommodation was fantastic, clean, modern, spacious and very comfortable. Pollyanne and Giles were very friendly and always there if you needed advice or just a chat. The facilities were exceptional. We loved the pool and jacuzzi, especially having private access to this. The girls also loved being able to use the tennis court. It was lovely to have your horse come over every morning for a pat and stroke and to be able to walk around your fields with the weather being so nice. We would have loved to have had more time to be able to visit some more of the local villages and try some of the (shorter) walks, but with the pool and tennis court it was hard pull ourselves away from the cottage. If a guest wants to book, they are taken directly to your own website, or you receive a simple email enquiry. Boutique Luxury Retreats links your social media accounts directly to any online marketing and social media campaigns which feature your holiday rental property.
We’re not trying to overcomplicate what is essentially an exclusive directory of holiday retreats. We monitor your click-throughs and enquiries, so you know how much traffic we generate for your website and bookings. You deal with guests directly, and we don’t get in the way, you set up your booking process, pricing and terms.
How Much it Cost to Advertise my Holiday Rental?
Retreat owners pay an annual fee to be on our directory. Your retreat features in several collections and in your destination collection. Boutique Luxury Retreats is a limited directory, capped at a small number of retreat owners, so listings are easy to find and never lost among thousands of properties. Guests are sent directly to your own website or enquiry inbox, allowing you to manage bookings yourself and clearly track the traffic BLR sends to you. The focus is on quality visibility rather than volume.
How do I set up my holiday advertisement independently?
If you need help moving away from an agency, but you’re not sure how to do it, we can help you with our Accelerated Direct Bookings Support Package. If you aren’t yet set up to take direct bookings, we can help you do this and share our years of experience of how to set owners up to be independent quickly and efficiently to take direct bookings and cut through the grey areas.
We will support you at all stages with a little black book of supplier contacts. This includes: Consultancy Support, Professional Photographs, Building a simple website, back end booking functionality, social media set up, growth and content creator support.
What if I use an agency for some bookings as well as having my own website to take independent bookings?
We’d prefer you to be independent and just benefit from direct bookings, but many owners use a mixed model to start with, combining agency bookings with direct bookings through their own website. We are happy to link your BLR listing directly to your chosen booking system so bookings and enquiries come straight to you.
What is the process to join?
You apply using our online form, which will take you maximum 5 minutes to complete. Use the owners contact form to provide your contact details, name of retreat, website link and a short description of your retreat. We will then spend time looking at your website, reviews, SEO and social media presence. We speak to you for a 360 review of your retreat with a marketing healthcheck and a possible relationship with BLR.

What if I don’t have a website for you to link to?
We work closely with a local website developer who understands the holiday accommodation industry and direct bookings model.
What if I have a website but it doesn’t allow online bookings?
If your website isn’t currently set up to take online bookings, we can suggest booking system providers who can help you add this functionality.
Should I only use one listings directory?
As owners ourselves, we recommend a balanced approach using a combination of excellent website optimisation and directories. We’re always happy to share supplier and platform recommendations based on what works well for different types of retreats.
What sort of retreats do we accept?
We have many different retreats in our collections. Each collection is different, as well as being boutique and luxury, your retreat needs to have that something special WOW factor and perfect for the collection it’s joining. A retreat can be anything from a stunning holiday cottage, manor house, cabin, treehouse, barn or boutique hotel.
What happens if you don’t think my holiday cottage or retreat is right to join a BLR collection?
We can’t accept every retreat, because this would defeat the point of being a limited collection. We work with lots of other directories ourselves and will always recommend other options to advertise through.
Why don’t you put prices on the holiday rentals?
We think that our job is to drive traffic to your website to book, which has all this information. Our job is to drive a specific demographic of guests to your website to book your retreat directly. This is also an exclusive holiday retreats directory, so price is not the first concern for guests looking to book a holiday.
Can you show our calendar availability?
We are happy to put up a ‘read-only’ availability calendar with your retreat availability. You just need to send us your booking widget code or ical and we’ll get your availability calendars integrated.
How do we know that you’re sending us traffic?
We monitor retreat click-throughs to book and enquiries from holiday makers, so owners know how much traffic we generate for their website and bookings. We also ask owners to track where bookings have come from at the point of booking.
How does social media promotion work?
We are more relaxed than other directories and when we do any social media features on your holiday letting, we are happy to tag and collaborate with you so that you get traffic direct to your social media channels. At the time, you will notice any increase in followers and although it makes it more difficult for BLR to track the total increase in business from us, we believe that its more of a holistic and long-term relationship that we need to nurture.
While this makes precise attribution harder, many owners value the wider exposure and long-term brand awareness this brings.
