We just love this newly launched large holiday home on Bickerton Hill, surrounded by the beauty of Cheshire’s ridge. Currently a well kept secret, which won’t last, The Great Getaway is the perfect location for a house party, with wonderful reception and entertainment rooms, able to sleep up to 18 guests with an indoor pool, spa and gym, all in fabulous splendour. Built in 1840, The Old Vicarage in Bickerton is a remarkable period property spanning 6,670 sq ft. The Old Vicarage offers historic charm and modern amenities, making it the perfect retreat for large gatherings and special occasions.

Inside The Great Getaway at The Old Vicarage

This is the perfect location for house parties with a spacious living kitchen, leading to a south-facing courtyard and outdoor kitchen. Other reception rooms include a drawing room, dining room, games room, and cinema room on the ground floor. There is an open fire in the drawing room.

Luxurious Bedrooms

Six of the eight bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms with unique and luxurious fabrics and furniture, high beams and freestanding baths. Five bedrooms are located in the main house, with three bedrooms in the Old Stables wing on the ground floor, so perfect for a family needing their own space to stay in or guests who need ground floor bedroom and bathroom accessibility.

On the ground floor Stable Wing there is one ground floor super king-size bed with ensuite bedroom, one bunk bed room sleeping four and lastly, a ground floor zip-and-link bedroom (which can be set up as a superking bed or as a twin), one ground floor family bathroom with roll top bath, and wet room with walk-in shower.

On the first floor there are five double bedrooms. The master with a superking bed and ensuite. Bedrooms 2 and 3 each have a zip-and-link (which can be set up as a superking bed or as a twin) and their own ensuite. Bedrooms 3 and 4 each have a king sized bed and their own ensuite.

The Kitchen at The Great Getaway

There is a fabulous open plan kitchen diner and both a kitchen table and dining room table able to seat 18 guests.

The kitchen has been designed for entertaining with everything you would expect including a large Range Cooker, two fridge freezers and an all important Nespresso machine.

We love the private courtyard with an outdoor kitchen and bar, perfect for summer parties with a gas Weber BBQ and a Gozney Pizza Oven.

There’s also a hot tub, yoga deck and croquet lawn, with room to play cricket in 0.75 acre of gardens.

The large open terrace has outside tables and chairs both on the main terrace and recently opened roof terrace.

Electric gates ensure privacy, with ample parking space on the main driveway. Helicopter landing in the adjacent field is permitted with prior arrangement.

Positioned in a sheltered spot on Bickerton Hill, The Old Vicarage has wonderful views of the sweeping vistas from the Sandstone Trail across the picturesque Cheshire Plain. Steeped in history, folklore, and myth, this is a wonderful area to soak up British history, with Bronze Age and Iron Age hilltop enclosures to explore, remnants of Roman roads, medieval churches and castles, all in close proximity to The Old Vicarage.

The owners were drawn to this property because of its private location and breath taking walks on its doorstep and they have transformed an historic and quintessential English home into a modern, luxurious and spoiling holiday house.
