Mill End is a fantastically unique and large medieval country house in the charming market town of Mitcheldean, surrounded by a vast area of ancient woodland and wildlife in Gloucestershire. The house is more ‘bohemian boutique quirky’ than luxury and is a truly unique and fabulous party house, lovingly converted over the years by ex-fashion designer Liz Lewitt and her partner Zoff.
This is the perfect large holiday house for for hen parties, big family events, milestone birthdays, corporate team building & retreats with in-house catering, hospitality & entertainment. Mill House is situated in the centre of the beautiful market town of Mitcheldean, so there is a 12pm garden curfew.
The main house sleeps from 25 in 10 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms (3 en-suite and 4 shared use).
There is an extra annexe Jovial Colliers, which sleeps an additional 4 and a final annex Lower Stores, which sleeps up to 6. There is also a cottage next door, which sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom.
So if you’ve been counting, Mill End House can sleep and entertain up to 40, set up perfectly for relaxed parties and entertaining, with 2 main inside areas and an outside area, all ideal entertaining space.
Your Mill End Hosts
It’s worth coming here just to meet the host herself. Liz is a walking history of Bristol’s infamous bohemian arty and fashion scene in the 80s and 90s and she’s been on a fair few Top 20 fashion, presenter and venue lists over the years. With the help of her more practically minded partner Zoff, they have created a quirky country house perfect for gathering close friends and family, rich with the resonance of ancient wood and offer catering, hospitality and entertainment via their sister company, Bordello Banquets.
This is truly a flexible venue. Liz will design your retreat, whatever the occasion, around your needs. Hospitality and entertainment is organised through her own company, Bordello Banquets, and she is flexible about check in and out times, the number of guests and dogs taking part. Note that these are all additional extras, as is the use of the hot tub and sauna.
Entertaining Space at Mill House
There is fabulous entertaining space, with room to seat up to 40 and two Kitchens. Upper malt house kitchen caters for 40+ guests. Lower malt house kitchen is set up predominantly for baking, breakfasts, kids high teas and cocktails. The kitchens are especially popular with the professional chefs who create your amazing food, because they are so well equipped, not forgetting the 3 door wine chiller. For those of you who prefer to cook yourselves, this is a great house for foodies and cocktail aficionados with everything you need to create delicious meals and lots of cocktail books and recipe books.
In terms of reception entertainment space, there are 2 main entertainment areas, a large open plan kitchen and dining area to seat 40 on the ground floor and then another more relaxing open plan kitchen and sitting room area, with lots of sofas. There’s also a lovely Oak conservatory area, with a wood burner and more sofas to chill and relax in. If you hire the additional annex, Jovial Colliers, there is an additional sitting room, ideal as a kids TV and playroom area.
