Erwain Escapes, A Romantic Off Grid Cabin
Erwain Escapes: A Romantic Off-Grid Cabin for Two in Carmarthenshire
An off-grid romantic cabin in rural Carmarthenshire, hidden in a wildflower meadow, with a sunken outdoor bath, wood burner and complete privacy for two.
A Secluded Cabin with Outdoor Bath in Rural West Wales
Tucked away in its own quiet corner of the Carmarthenshire countryside in West Wales, Erwain Escapes feels like a secret place discovered rather than found. This quirky handcrafted storybook cabin sits gently within the landscape, with meadow grasses, birdsong and wide Welsh skies all around.
Designed as an adult-only retreat for two, it’s a place where everyday life fades into the background. Days unfold slowly here – perhaps a walk through the nearby hills, an afternoon reading in the hammock by the river, or simply watching the light shift across the meadow. As evening arrives, the wood burner glows inside while the sunken outdoor bath becomes the perfect place to soak beneath a star-filled sky.
The cabin sits within one of Wales’ International Dark Sky landscapes, meaning clear nights bring exceptional stargazing. From the warmth of the bath or beside the firepit, the sky often reveals a remarkable canopy of stars.
Romantic without trying too hard, Erwain Escapes is perfect for couples celebrating something special – from anniversaries and birthdays to proposals and mini-moons – or simply carving out time together away from the noise of everyday life.
Though wonderfully secluded, the cabin sits in the heart of Carmarthenshire, one of Wales’ most beautiful counties. From the dramatic landscapes of the Brecon Beacons to the wide sandy beaches along the west coast, there is plenty to explore before returning to the quiet magic of the meadow.

Riverside Hammock & Meadow Setting
Just beyond the cabin, a short path leads to the River Dulais, around 50 metres away. Here you’ll find a hammock beside the water – the perfect spot for reading, resting or simply listening to the quiet sounds of the countryside.
Wildlife & Stargazing
Wildlife is very much part of life here too. Deer, foxes and badgers are often spotted nearby, while buzzards and red kites circle overhead. Closer to the cabin, smaller birds regularly visit the feeders, adding to the sense of being gently immersed in nature.
Sustainable Living at Erwain Escapes
Sustainability sits quietly at the heart of Erwain Escapes. The cabin was designed to sit lightly within the meadow, combining natural materials with low-impact design to protect the surrounding landscape.
A living sedum roof blends the cabin into its setting while supporting local wildlife, and many features inside have been crafted using locally sourced or reclaimed materials – including the oak bed made from a fallen tree and the firepit fashioned from a repurposed tractor wheel.
Energy-efficient appliances, eco-friendly toiletries and carefully chosen low-impact materials help minimise the cabin’s environmental footprint. Locally sourced firewood warms the Defra-approved log stove, while outdoor lighting is kept intentionally low so that wildlife – and the night sky – remain undisturbed.
Small touches also connect guests to the landscape around them, from welcome hampers featuring Welsh produce to wildflower seeds supporting the Bee Conservation Trust.
